I had a strip across the roof of my 1949 B1PW, but it leaked pretty bad. I cut it out with a grinder and welded a piece of 1/32" flat bar in the gap. I haven't finished it yet, but I ingtend to finish it smooth, that is no ridge. I think it would be hard to keep rust from running out if I spot weld a strip up there. I guess I can always glue a strip up there if I want it to look originol. The bead had flanges on it as did the front and back piece. The bead flange stuck down between the front and back piece flanges, then the whole thing was spot welded through the flanges. At least that is what it looked like on mine which was quite deteriorated. There was some sealant on the seem that looked like tar.

To get to the flange you have to take off the panel that crosses the cab above the windshield. This is not very hard. You just drill out the spot welds at the top of the windshield hole, cut the weld at the hinges with a grinder, and then cut the welds on the inside on each end with a grinder.
