I've had decent luck with rigs that have been setting a few years. But it's always been at least a little worse than I expected, never better. If the sheet metal was very nice (doors tight and all), and the mechanicals looked good too, I would pay that much. But I much prefer the '63-type double headlight rigs with less plastic in the dash. I think that preference is common and it's something to think about for resale. For reference: last fall I saw a pretty decent W200 crew cab at VPW for $4,000 and I recently paid $800 for a decent running '63 W200 crew cab with terminal body cancer (There's a photo in my "modifications"-article at off-road.com/dodge/military). Good luck.
