I converted to 12v also. gave up on the original guages. went to stewart-warner new guages after trying to use old. if you decide to go this route, just wanted to let you know I used a fuel guage from J.C.WHITNEY part# 12YV4229X. sells for $19.95. This is for guage,float. pretty much a bolt in. has worked great for a year now. the price is great. nice to be able to know how much fuel is left. oh, by the way these were put in a 52 M37
