12V accessory in 24V vehicle?

I am wanting to install a 12V CB radiio in my '63 M-37 with 24V electrical. Saw in a magazine that this can be accomplished by taking power off of just one battery. However, i seem to recall reading on the Forum a while back that this causes one battery to overcharge, while the other undercharges. What's the right way to do this? Can I just put a 12V resistor in line with the CB? Thanks for any advise.
