You asked a lot of questions. Are you planning on rebuilding the 440 before you install it in the pickup? If so you can ordr a reground crank as part of the rebuild and specify that it is for a 4spd and then it would be drilled. ( but the one you have maybe drilled also.) A bigger concern then the crank being drilled is that in about 1972 or 1973 the 440 (and 383/400) switched from a steel crank (internally balanced) to a cast crank (externalyl balanced) This is not a problem if you are rebuilding the 440 because you can switch to a steel crank or have the rotating assembly balance using the old 383 flywheel and then it would be correctly drilled and balanced for the 77 440.
