Don't do it mon!! No substitute for cubic inches. The bigger engine will move the vehicle much better. The smaller chevy V6 is low on torque as well as horsepower (very slight increase over the stock engine) and the fuel injection will require modificatons to the fuel system (return line to fuel tank, intank fuel pump or high pressure external fuel pump. I am not sure of California emissions requirements, but I think you would have to pass the emissions standards for the 2.8 v6 model year. This would probably require the complete computer system for the V6. This would also require the interactive check engine light system.
I have installed a larger version of the old flathead Dodge (Chrysler 265 Industrial engine). Still slow on the Interstate going uphill (7% grade at 9000 ft elevation.) On the flat at a mile high - even on the flat at two miles high it will do 70 with a civilian carb, no governor and hubs locked out.
Clearly the V8 360 Dodge is the better power choice over the chevy 2.8 L V6 (Trans will hold up better too!) BOB
