If you had a pre 57 PW the Military 420 would fit . When the M-37b1's came out in 1959 they had the updated NP420 but they kept the offset bolt up flanges so it could interchange with the earlier M-37's (51-54). This boltup pattern is the same as on the pre 57 PW's that had the spur gear trans. The later PW's had 420 trans but with a squared boltup pattern to the bellhousing.
