road speed

I have heard a lot of comments about the increased road speed with taller tires, and I know for a fact that taller tires will increase your trucks top end speed. I have been running taller than stock tires on my trucks for 60 years. I also know the taller tires throw off the speedometer, so you are actually traveling faster than the speedometer shows. I have been ticketed enough times to be convinced of this.
I am wondering how everyone running 1100 16 (or taller than stock) tires knows how fast they are actually traveling? GPS? Re-gearing the speedometer? Highway patrol?
