My '49 with rebuilt 230 flathead, 4.89 axle gears and 11.00 x 16 tires would get 57 or 58 mph on flat ground, or slight inclines. I think it would have gone a little faster on flat ground, but I never tried. It would slow down a few mph going uphill on the freeway, where the hills are shallow to moderate. I had a VPW cam in the engine. I suppose maybe that helped as well. Everything else in the truck was stock. I stayed in the right lane.
