Bob/everyone: Thank you. My friend in Baltimore had a parts m37 with 11k on it. The drums were like new, but still needed turning. I put them on the hubs and did it the right way. To my surprise, I could no get the heals of the shoe close enough to the drum. The lower half of the shoes is more worn than the upper half.
Your comment about only using 2/3 of the drum is spot on and makes a ton of sense.
