I have collected Standard Oil signs, cans, etc since I was in grade school. Have also studied their history some.

At the time the plate got riveted to your dash, Standard was headquartered in Chicago with the refinery in Whiting Indiana. This was after the government in their infinite wisdom broke up the company into bits and pieces. It pretty much reached every corner of the U.S. with different areas under a different name - such as: Amoco down south, Utoco out west, Pan-Am, Socony, etc.

Chevron, Conoco, Sunoco, Mobil, Shell, American, Exxon, Esso, Sohio, BP, and a lot more all have a lineage to the original Standard before the breakup.

Stanolind was one of the brand names along with Stanolene, Stanolube, Gold Crown, Red Crown, White Crown, Blue Crown, Atlas, Bovinol, Iso-Vis, Polarine, Permalube, etc.

I would not be surprised to see this on a ND truck.
