That's fine if you never use it in bad weather. The prettiest looking ones are all polished and look beautiful, but take them out in the weather and the wood swells and holds moisture in the joints, then continues to swell and large pieces split off. I built a custom steel frame T&G hardwood flat bed on my '99 truck, timber all oiled and looking beautiful, it didn't stand up to the weather as explained above. My '46 Dodge had the hardwood timbers laid in against each other and were still good when I cut them down to fit my PW flatbed. 60 years against 16.
