master cylinder

The worn out master cylinder in my 1953 civilian power wagon 4x4 has a bore of 1 1/2 inches. I have a
1 ton master cylinder in good shape however the bore is only 1 1/4 inches. Is it safe to use the smaller bore master cylinder or should I put out some cash and buy a new larger bore one. thanks
