I'm not familiar with the new models (since Fluke sold out to Danaher) I suspect quality has declined. My remaining engineer friends there say it's no fun to work there compared to the old days. Sounds like a bad connection inside somewhere. Careful inspection might reveal it. There's a lot of trouble with cracked solder joints in all kinds of electronic equipment these days thanks to the ROHS ban of lead-bearing solder. The allowable solder is mostly tin and it's much more brittle.
