For replacement parts, check with vendors s such as VPW, DC Parts, and that's about it. You will need to weld up the worn area in the shifter ball channel and grind it back into spec. The pin, too, is possibly worn out of round and in need of replacement. Lastly, the wear in the shift tower pin hole should be filled in and re-drilled.

I had this problem in my shift tower. What I ended up with was this: my welder/fabricator filled and machined the shift lever slot into spec. Next, taking careful measurements, he drilled out the pin hole in the shift tower, and threaded it to accept a bolt. Next, using a hardened bolt, he machined the threaded end down to match the correct diameter and length the pin needed to be in order to engage the shift lever channel. He then inserted the bolt into the shift tower, welded the bolt in place, cut off the bolt head, and ground the remaining stub flush with the housing.

I call this my Hurst shifter. Virtually no slop. smooth as silk, each gear sticking right into place. Amazing!
