I used to work with a guy who had a set of hoops made from conduit for his IHC pickup. The bottoms of the hoops fit around pipe rails on the bed sides. It worked like an accordion with the cover on. His original cover had the hoops sewn in, but when I saw it he was just using tarps. Most of the time he had the hoops slid forward, looked kind of like military beds with the hoops stowed, except he could move them into place and pin them from the ground. He didn't use them a lot but when he did he was proud - put on a show like setting up a circus tent.
Been thinking I might do something similar on one of my trucks. It is handy.
Funny remembering that - we worked at a hardware and lumber store, my first job when I was 14 and his last when he was in his mid 80s. He didn't think much of my WC because it wasn't modern like his 60s International.
