Dan: There are a lot of thoughts and opinions on this. I'm in the process of finishing mine up now and decided to stick with the bronze upper bushing. The theory is there is more surface area for the bronze bearing to hit on than the roller bearing, so when you are driving around Vietnam and hit a large pot hole or obstruction it will better handle the impact than a roller bearing. Is there any truth to that? I believe so, but the reality is even the roller bearing is probably overkill for 99.9% of us and the way we drive.

You may want to check out the tolerances on the tracta joints, inner and outer bronze axle bushings and the axle shafts where they spin on the seal and bearing. My tracta joints were very lose, and the axle bushings were way off aftermarket ones that caused destruction of the inner seals.
