You know I am biodiesel all the way, but Ford should look into higher ethanol blends in the Ecoboost. Turbo charging and high octane go great together.
Biodiesel runs virtually the same as diesel fuel. We can claim cleaner emission, but the power and economy are going to be almost exactly the same as diesel fuel. Ethanol has a bigger impact on combustion. Ethanol could make fuel economy better or worse.
They need to figure out if a 30-40% ethanol blend would be optimum blend for power and performance. E10 or E15 probably isn't enough ethanol to get the best performance, and E85 might be too little gasoline in the mix.
There needs to be more choice in the market place instead of us being told we can only buy the same old fuel sold by the same old oil companies. And then the OEMs need to optimize engine controls to take advantage of a superior fuel blend.
