Corn Grease is good to around 400 degrees but if you look up a lot of gear oils you will see that most have flash points below that! Glad those high temps are only on the edge of the teeth contacts submerged in gear oil to stop a fire. I was surprised ever Amisoil synthetic gear lube flash point is around 350 degrees. The high temps happen when under extreme loads winching not all the time.
