Good info Wayne!

I chased the threads in the block, used all new head bolts, coated bolt threads with thread sealant, coated underside of bolt head where it contacts the head with Marvel Oil, followed the torque sequence found in the manual, and in fact went in a sequence of three steps up to 55 Ft Pounds, as found in the manual.

One thing the manual said to do that I didn't was do this with a HOT engine. I will re-torque the bolts when it has ran for a few hours.

The head gasket I used came in a engine overhaul gasket set provided to me by the machine shop. The gasket had a metal side coated with copper, and a non-metal side. I sprayed both sides with copper and also sprayed the head surface. I put the metal side of the gasket up, towards the head.

Thanks for the post.

Dean
