Great, so if you plan to sell the truck someday, as soon as you acquire it, put in for a title. It may well be more than 3 years before you really sell it or if not, it will have at least past the initial stolen vehicle list check. I just bought a car that runs and drives for $80. Main problem -- no title. The kid had a shaggy dog story about how he traded it to this buddy and he traded it to some other buddy and then he got it back via some convoluted sequence I didn't attempt to follow. I'm 80% sure it's legit (knowing the kid) but it would have been worth at least $500 with a title. Instead, it's just parts and scrap. If I was to buy something like this old dodge from some guy I didn't know, how do I know he didn't "borrow" it out of the old neighbor guy's back 40, or he had put it in his ex-wife's name back when they were together, or any of a number of other potential problems? I just think a seller is doing themselves a disservice (and throwing away money) when they don't at least start the process of getting a clean title.
