That's what the M29 "Weasel" was supposed to do, and that's what the "Argo" is supposed to do. It's a plastic-hull swamp buggy with rubber tires that can be fitted with snow tracks. It's supposed be able to float and propel itself by dog-paddling with its tires. I got the salesman to bring one up for me to test in the snow here, and it honestly wasn't very good. We got about half way to where he said it should have no problem going, and turned around. Swamp buggies have to have a low enough hull to float, which means they drag their bellies on soft snow and get high-centered. As with lots of things a design that's a compromise intended to be good at several things ends up not being very good at any of them.
