Yes, I am definitely guilty of over thinking this stuff from time to time. And occasionally underthinking it too.
I suspect you are right, but it is also not too much work so I might as well. I was also concerned that after replacing those overpriced bolts not having a good surface would damage them.
But as you point out, maybe that should be a problem for someone 70 years from now.
