URL redirects are generally used when a Web page's address changes. When a visitor lands on a Web page that has a new URL, the redirect works to forward the visitor's browser to the new URL. With many popular Web browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera, for example), the settings can be configured to allow or disallow automatic URL redirects. The process varies depending on which browser you are using.
