The reason I did not weld it together is that I wanted to be able to repair it later if it gets damaged by just unbolting parts from it. I could weld it at the seams later if it becomes a problem. Lifting a 1,000 lb bed was another issue putting it on the frame and having it all line up to the 1/8" plus/neg. The bolts in the bottom of the bed are flush that area is 52 inches wide. The bolts on the small angle are grade 8 hex bolts/nuts/washers but it would be hard to set stuff on the 5" wide 50 degree angle. They needed to be real strong to support the sides.
