Tim, my 49 jeepster has the Borg Warner od. The cable pull takes the overdrive out of play.
When the cable is pushed in overdrive is engaged. The kick down switch under the gas pedal momentarily stalls the ignition to let it shift down. While it is shifted down pull the cable and you are back in standard.
