Bill I cant remember how the front diff works. But I know the front diff is a open diff and The actuator mounted on the right side axle tube engages the front diff. You can shift the transfer case in to 4 high or low but there is a vacuum switch on the transfer case that send vacuum up to the front to pull the shift fork inside the axle tube to engage the right axle shaft. I think the vac lines are white and red. Start there looking for the vacuum signal under the hood and follow down to the transfer case switch. May be a loss of vacuum or a bad transfer case switch. I hope this helps. I have a 00 Dodge 4x4 coming in tomorrow for some work and i can have a look. Or I can ask my son Wayne to. Take Care Bill.
