I ran into a problem on my front axle rebuild today. According to the book you just take a punch and whack the "dowel" pins out of the right and left flange assemblies. Well that didn't work, although I got a lot of exercise trying. I gave up after about an hour of trying, then checked the archives for advice. According to Vaughn, just take some wood and beat the lower flange until it capitulates. I ran (more like gimped...) back to the shop to give that a shot. Two minutes later look what happened...
