The dual diaphragm fuel/vacuum pump was an optional accessory that was available factory installed when specified. The photo shows a pump removed from a 251 engine that is in a WM300. Just about every Pike Electric truck that I have seen had this pump. Over the years, Pike Electric (located in Mt. Airy, NC) purchased hundreds of WDX/WM300's. When they found out in 1968 that the Power Wagon was going to be discontinued, they bought 50 of them. The local dealer here in Wilkes County, NC found them in Denver, Colorado and had them sent to his dealership and then sold them to Pike Electric. Pike electric bought every Power Wagon that they purchased new from the same dealership. Once in the early 1960's I saw 5 new ones at the dealership waiting to be picked up. Pike Electric at that time specialized in the construction of high tension power lines in mountainous regions. All their trucks had winches and shop made heavy duty rear bumpers installed at the Pike shops. There were loops made of 1/2" round rod stock welded to this bumper and this was done to drag the wires along the right-of-way after the towers were set.
