Question about bed valance color

Hi all,
The rear valance (below the tailgate) on the bed of my 57 W100 is black, while the truck was originally red. Was this correct or was the original red one replaced at some point with a black one?
Next question, mostly opinions I guess, when two-toning like in the picture, would the underside of the hood be red, or would the entire hood be beige?
