I think he will find a melted piston. He had the injector pump hopped up some. Said he was showing 700 degrees.
When I was a kid before the new Lewiston grade was built we stopped at the old horse trough that used to be at the spring. While we were there we watched the cars and trucks grinding by on the switch back and my dad bet my buddy and I that he could beat us around the switch back in the old 1948 Dodge town panel while we ran down the bank trying to cut him off.It was close but he won.
There is another grade you need to see if you haven't between Lewiston and whitebird called the old Winchester grade. It follows the old Nez Perce Indian trail that became the stage coach road to the Camas prairie. It is my favorite probably because I grew up living on it. Riding a school bus up there was good training.
