I would never use a tie rod that's been bent. In fact, when I bent one on my old Datsun pickup, it looked about like the one in your photo, and I scrapped it bought a new one. I don't think it's worth taking a chance on having it fail while driving and losing your steering.

I disagree that the tie rod only sees tension in service. I don't see how it could possibly not see compression some of the time, which would result in buckling of the tie rod, since it already has a bow in it.

Also, whether it's in tension or in compression, the bow is going to result in frequent flexing of the rod, which after enough cycles of that, will cause it to fatigue and crack.

Even the fact that it bent may have caused minute cracks, and if you straighten it, you have an even greater chance of cracking it. I believe the alloy used for these types of things is pretty flexible, so that it won't crack when bent, but why take a chance? Again, I would not want to run any risk of losing my steering, unless you plan to keep it strictly off-road.
