I straightened out a bent drill steel on my shop press and it was a process of trial and error getting the pressure and the blocking in the right place, but after a few tries I had it. It had a much sharper and more pronounced bend than your tie rod (it was jammed in a hole in the rock and I snagged it with the cat trying to pry the rock next to it loose) and I'm pretty sure it's a lot stiffer too because it's solid and made of tool steel. You'll probably want to put some hard wood on it where you press. If you take the rod ends out, you can roll it on a flat surface to see if you have it right. The good thing is it doesn't spin in use so there's no harm in it being slightly bent.
