In the Houston area we have a nostalgia 1/4 mile race every spring for old iron, I think 1970 and older. The majority that convert to a different power plant use a Chevy small block or big block.
The best joke was when one guy took a Chevy and converted it with a flat head Ford and blew all the others away.
That year they brought in "The Scorpion" and a Clone, I think both running on alcohol or what ever they used for top fuel those years powered by Dodge Hemi, and fired it up but didn't run it. Some others ran reverse cam flat head Ford V8's.
