Much as it annoys me to say, being raised in a house where I thought Thruman's first name was Thatsunuvabych, Harry was a good man and a decent President, when you consider the times and circumstance.
Truman was kept at the Senate with blinders on until FDR sucked his last breath, completely in the dark about War progress and the Atomic Bomb. He was then brought to the White House and lied to by every flag grade scumbag and politician so they could get their brass sing on the ride.
DDI and his counterpart Bugout Doug both had more staff assigned to their campaigns for the Presidency after Truman than they had pursuing the War. The truest stamement made by Doug was when he called DDI "The best clerk I ever had in World War I" and neither "General" deserved greater rank than 2nd Lt in charge of shit burning.
George Patton was NOT a politician and had he gone into politics would have lost an election for Dog Catcher. He was one hell of a fine field commander and tactician though.
