My 2006 2500 has an even lamer 4x4 shift system. I ordered the Laramie package, for the leather seats. Along with them came this phony little dial on the dash next to the radio. You turn it to 4x4 or 4x4L. I went back into the dealership as soon as I saw it and asked them if they could convert to the shift lever I had in my '03. No dice. It seems all the new 4x4s involve some little motor or something in the front end that assists somehow in the shifting. Maybe yours is just sticky from lack of use?
