Hello Tim,
I've found that soaking everything liberally with gasoline, throwing a match in the puddle and running like hell works pretty good! It removes all that old grease, oil, and paint. It also facilitates removing that rotten wood and rusty bolts from the bed. I've discovered that the cleanup is relatively simple providing the fire department gets there in time. It provides heat for the garage or (shop), gives you that excuse you've been looking for to exercise, and you've got to admit it beats the heck out of attending the jazzercise classes with your wife and having to look at the derrieres of some of the other gals that should have been in there years ago! Also it gives you an opportunity to step (run) outside to get a breath of fresh air. I've found that the smoke helps in controlling the local mosquito population up here. Lastly you'll probably have an excuse for building that new shop you've been dreaming about. Good luck, let me know how it turns out!!!
