If you have leaf springs, you don't have torsion bars. A torsion bar is just a long heat treated steel rod, spring steel if you will, that is usually 4-5 feet long. It has either a hex head or splines on each end. One end locks into the lower control arm and the other end is goes to a bracket near the middle of the vehicle. When the bars are twisted, something has to give so the front end is raised. The bars have different diameters and spring rates for different capacity(load size) trucks. Chevy had over 25 different bars for their trucks. Load factors, engine size, truck length and so on. The problem with cranking them all the way up is if you over load it and go through rough, bouncy terrain you will go beyond the design limits and something may brake.
