W500 questions

I am looking at purchasing W500 to use to haul my vehicles and whatever else around. One I have found is a '69, has a 318 industrial, 5 speed, 2 speed rear end (operated by gas pedal position?) and warn hubs on the front axle. Can anyone tell me a little more about these? What are the hard to find parts, problem areas for these beasts? What is the wheelbase/what size flatbed will fit (currently has a drill deck attached), what size tires fit, what else do I need to know? How powerful is the 318 in these; what kind of speed do they get loaded, or should I be expecting to have to replace the engine? What is the GVWR so I can find out if I need a CDL. I'm used to M37s and smaller; what am I potentially getting myself into O&M-wise with something this big? Thanks for any answers you may have.
