They are dodge axles, and remember that they have offset differentials. The shafts aren't the strongest in the world and there are many cases of them being broken when pushed espeially in repowered vehicles. They will however handle the 39" tires since the stock tires are about 35 or 36". I think that you are probable asking about the front axle u-joints? These trucks do not use u-joints in the axle shafts. They use tracta joints. This is one of the earlier axle joint designs and as far as I know they are fairly strong.
