NO WAY! 800 departed NYC, and nobody had time to learn it was hijacked, and then launch a defensive strike against it. Things just don't happen that quick!
When the first plane hit the first tower today, the normal course of thought was that it was a horrible accident. When the 2nd plane hit, it became obvious what was happening.
