Manual Choke

hi, I have a 74 W-200 w 318 V8, Carter BBD carb, someone put a manual choke on this carb and it is binding up now, I have never met anyone that had luck with an aftermarket manual choke lasting. Anynone have any tips, is my best bet just to get a new carb. How hard is it to put an electronic choke carb on this truck (Where would the wires come from)?

This truck is going to be my really snowy days truck so it needs to start and run well in the cold.
