A few years ago I was able to find water pump grease in a tube. It is a blue, aluminum-based grease, and is also used for greasing boat trailer axle bearings. I found it at Pep Boys, I believe.

I haven't looked for it in a while because my truck hasn't run in several years, but that's going to change soon.....
