Bruce, if I am correct the hinges that you welded back together are made of cast steel, not cast iron, and as such will be fine if you got them back together straight. if they welded back without trouble they were steel, if they acted rough and fizzed, popped, and bubbled, they were cast iron, and will be hard pressed to hold. I took apart a broken and badly repaired rear shock mount, and welded it back on straight, turned out great! and will hold, I used a 7018 rod. if they are steel your hinges will hold. Dave.
