Ideally, the motors should not burn up if the wiper jams. I know you want strong wipers, but you don't want to smoke a motor if the wiper's frozen to the glass or there's too much snow piled up on it. It might be worth measuring the current draw at the maximum realistic load, and then adding a breaker set to trip at just a little more than that. Being as how you're an electrical guy, I know you could do it.
