well, took all of your cumulative advice and installed the bypass connector and hose from the thermostat housing to the water pump.

Same conditions arise: that is, right to 160, then slowly to 180.. thermo opens (apparently)as the temp drops.. then shoots back again to overheat (boil over)

now, Ill say this:

this time around, with the bypass hose installed, the engine took a LOT longer before reaching a temp where it wanted to boil over.

so the bypass hose does work to a degree.

now.. I also took the radiator to a local shop to flush it as I seen SOME rusty water come out on the boil overs....

Now.. as the radiator is made of copper (I think?) then the rust cant come from the radiator, (right?) but perhaps from the other engine where it transfered rust to the core of my raditor?

whatever the reason for the rust inside, its got some..... I brought it to a local shop. mind you all.. this is DALLAS.. the one and only radiator shop locally is less than reputable.

Well I hoped he would be right by me.. he said it "Was too far clogged.. couldnt get anything out of it"

where I know he is full of SH*T.. it flowed.. maybe not perfect, but it flowed, so I doubt the **&^$%^%^$%B even put it in the tank and or tried flushing it.. his reputation with others has probved this, but being the only one around, I went to him regardless. my guess is he didnt even put in his vat..

so...I go pick it up tonight....

So, I am back to where I was..

So, I intend to try the next two steps.

first, as recommended.. remove the thermostat altogether and see what heppens..

I read on the VPW site where you can drill a 1/32" hole in the themo.. I sort of remember doing this in the past as well.

any input on this idea of drilling the hole?.

as far as the radiator, as I have no choice, I will attempt to clean it myself with a diluted mix of muratic acid.. I read on other forums of guys trying this.

any thoughts? any results you can share trying this muratic acid cleaning?

and any thoughts on the 1/32" hole drill in the thermo?
