Anyway, what you just said supports what I had been told. It seems the govt. wanted all the steel available in the country to be directed toward the war effort. Sadly, most of that steel was left behind or submerged in the ocean somewhere.
I wonder how many of those vouchers still exist in some drawer or memorabilia box and how many were actually used.
