Radials first became popular in America in the 70s. By then they were old school in Europe, because in WWII we bombed the crap out of their tire industry, and they re-tooled with radial stuff.

Big RADIAL TUNE deal, it was 1/32 less toe in.

The basic need for toe-in is to make up for the rolling resistance. You make a guess at how much you need to make up for flex in the front end. A drive-over scuff gauge works the best, it reads what the toe is when rolling.

I usually use two sticks or a shower curtain rod. Stretch between tires as high as you can, front and back, marking for each length. Try to remember which mark is front and back. ;^) Toe IN, not OUT.
