M37CDN, 251s, and Unleaded Gas

My brother-in-law just picked up an M37CDN, which has the original 251 in it. He's wondering about unleaded gas with this engine, and I'm not sure what to tell him. I know the Power Wagon 251s had hardened valve seats and can run on unleaded gas, but I don't know if this is true for the M37s as well. What should I tell him??
