I had one of the new replacement military coils in my M715 that died just parked in the shop.
After the autopsy I discovered heat made the internal winding's expand pushing the top cover out of the can. When the coil cooled down the cover stayed high on one side and that separated the primary winding where it was molded into the top cap.It was apparent doing an ohms check of the primary winding.
There should also be continuity from the primary leg to the secondary.
